Ty Montgomery ready to put Packers in past

The Green Bay Packers had traded safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix for what is being reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN as a fourth round pick.

In addition to trading away Ty Montgomery to the Baltimore Ravens, the Packers traded Pro Bowl safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to the Washington Redskins just moments before the trade deadline ended.

In his four-plus National Football League seasons, Clinton-Dix has recorded a total of 300 tackles, 14 interceptions and 5.5 sacks.

"Much love y'all (cheese emoji)", Clinton-Dix tweeted shortly before the news broke.

"Never spent any time in Maryland before", said the 25-year-old Montgomery, who was born in MS, raised in Texas, attended Stanford in California and was drafted by the Packers in Wisconsin. "I'm excited, and I want to just do everything that's asked of me and take advantage of this opportunity". There's a lot I can learn from.

But after missing 10 games in his rookie year due to injury, the Packers made a decision midway through the 2016 season to move him to running back after Eddie Lacy and James Starks went down with injuries.

Quinnipiac poll releases new numbers on Cruz-O’Rourke race
According to the latest NBC News / Marist poll , O'Rourke trails his Republican opponent Ted Cruz by just 4 points. President Donald Trump was in Texas to rally support for Cruz last week , and the start of the polling period.

Clinton-Dix will end his career with the Packers with impressive numbers across the board. The price of the trade wasn't high, but the Redskins do face the challenge of incorporating a player midseason to what's already a strong defense. No other safety has played more than 24 snaps. In Green Bay, Clinton-Dix roamed the field as a free safety - and he's been effective in that role.

Clinton-Dix had recorded three interceptions, three passes defensed, one forced fumble and 27 tackles for the Packers this season.

Clinton-Dix and Swearinger are each versatile, a trait that's helpful in the modern NFL.

Whether Montgomery can help this Sunday against the Steelers, Harbaugh said he'll try to determine that in practice this week.

Good luck and thank you, Ty Montgomery! "I know his contract is what it is, but he can really help us this year and that's an important thing".
