Quinnipiac poll releases new numbers on Cruz-O’Rourke race

Republican incumbent U.S. Sen. O'Rourke managed to squeeze nearly as much support in the survey of 1,078 likely voters from Texas' black (86-12) and Latino populations (60-36) as well as Texas women (52-45).

"O'Rourke is within striking distance, but time is running out", said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the poll. The Democratic candidate putting up the strongest challenge for a blue Texas Senate seat that the state has seen in some while had Scott with him at a recent rally in Houston.

This wave of celebrity endorsements is part of a final push before the midterm elections on November 6. According to the latest NBC News / Marist poll, O'Rourke trails his Republican opponent Ted Cruz by just 4 points.

President Donald Trump was in Texas to rally support for Cruz last week, and the start of the polling period.
