Police investigate suspicious package addressed to Robert De Niro

"This egregious conduct is abhorrent". They noted the president's recent praise of a GOP congressman who body-slammed a reporter, among other Trump statements. Gianforte pleaded guilty to that incident.

Earlier Wednesday, there was heightened law enforcement presence at the Chappaqua, New York home of Bill and Hillary Clinton after a device was intercepted at a nearby facility where the Secret Service screens their mail.

Sanders says the president is not responsible for sending suspicious packages any more than Democratic Sen. But FBI and other investigators had been responding to a US Postal facility in DE that morning, FBI spokesman Dave Fitz said.

NY police are investigating a suspicious package addressed to the actor De Niro and sent to his Tribeca property Thursday morning.

The address, 375 Greenwich St., matches that of the Tribeca Film Center as well as De Niro's Tribeca Grill restaurant.

An earlier Federal Bureau of Investigation statement said the other packages consisted of a manila envelope with a bubble-wrap interior containing "potentially destructive devices".

Law enforcement officials told The Washington Post the devices had pipes stuffed with explosive material and were wrapped in electrical wire and tape, but they did not describe how they would have been detonated. FBI Public Affairs Specialist Dave Fitz told CNN agents were "responding with our law enforcement partners to a US Postal facility in DE".

The wave of suspected bombs on Wednesday and Thursday targeted well-known Democratic Party figures and critics of Trump as a manhunt intensified for a serial bomber less than two weeks before congressional elections on November 6.

The Taxi Driver star opened his speech by calling Trump "blantantly stupid", before going on to label the billionaire president a "punk", "dog", "bullsh*t artist", "fool", "mutt", "bozo", "pig", "con", "idiot" and "national disaster".

Trump accuses Saudi Arabia of ‘lies’ over Khashoggi killing
Democratic Representative Adam Schiff of California said Saudi Arabia's claim that Mr Khashoggi died in a brawl was not credible. Trump initially said he believed the Saudi account, but on Saturday he said he still does not know where Khashoggi's body is.

However, authorities warn they might not have found them all yet.

The bomb squad removed the package and took it to a police facility in the Bronx at around 6:30 a.m.

"Any acts or threats of political violence are an attack on our democracy itself", Trump said.

Some leading Democrats were quick to accuse Mr Trump himself of stoking the potential for political violence by frequently engaging in hyper-partisan, vitriolic rhetoric.

Mr Trump and other Republicans have likened Democrats to an "angry mob", citing protests at the confirmation hearing of US Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

But Democratic Senate and House leaders Chuck Schumer of NY and Nancy Pelosi of California said Trump's words "ring hollow". Trump also often singles out CNN as he rails against the "fake news" media.

At least five packages discovered this week all had a similar return address: Democratic Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, but with her name misspelled.

Suspicious packages were also intercepted addressed to Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) at the congressional mail sorting facility outside D.C. and addressed to former Attorney General Eric Holder; the package to Holder was addressed wrong and bounced back to the return address on the package, which was Rep.
