Erdogan on Saudi journalist missing in Turkey: 'I am chasing' investigation

Mr Khashoggi, who will be 60 on 13 October, was born in the western Saudi city of Medina, which is revered in Islam as the burial place of the Prophet Muhammad.

Turan Kislakci, a friend of Khashoggi and the head of the Turkish-Arab Media Association, told Associated Press that Turkish officials said the journalist has been brutally murdered.

"What was explained to us is this: He was killed, make your funeral preparations", Kislakci said.

The official did not provide details on how the body had been taken away or whether it had been found.

In an article published by Al-Jazeera this week, journalist and analyst Bill Law described Khashoggi as "a brilliant journalist with a fiercely independent mind but with sufficient pragmatism to know just how close to the red lines he could go".

"I am still keeping my good intentions", he said. By God's will, we will not come across an undesirable situation. "I don't believe he's been killed!" his fiancée Hatice wrote on Twitter late Saturday night.

"We hope to have results very quickly", he added.

"All the footage of entrance or exit of the embassy is under investigation".

A spokesman for the European Commission said it was looking into the journalist's disappearance: "We have asked for and we are awaiting clarifications from the Saudi authorities on the fate of Mr. Khashoggi".

Aside from the main camera , those are pretty average specs these days but you do get various photo modes including pro and bokeh. HMD once again partnered with lens experts at German optics company Zeiss in order to design the cameras on the Nokia 7 .1.

"My sense is that he has been the consulate", Aktay said.

"We are not in a position to confirm these reports, but we are following them closely", the official said.

The consulate denied the allegation on Sunday, saying in a statement on its Twitter feed that it was fully cooperating with the Turkish authorities and that it rejected the "baseless" accusation of murder. "Their foreign policy is based on a single doctrine: establishing the supremacy of Saudi Arabia in order to make it the sole arbiter of Arab affairs and the main point of entry for all worldwide powers into the region", wrote Madawi al-Rasheed, a Britain-based academic and critic of the Saudi government, in a new collection of essays on the kingdom. While MBS has attracted attention with his modernization campaign to roll back some of the kingdom's ultraconservative societal regulations, rights groups say the government has ramped up its crackdown on activists and dissenters. During an interview with Bloomberg on Wednesday, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman offered Turkish authorities the opportunity to search the premises for the missing dissident, insisting that the Saudis "have nothing to hide".

He added that the foreign ministry was also working to "see exactly what happened at that time".

Jamal Khashoggi has maintained his ties with Saudi elites and launched a satellite news channel, Al-Arab, from Bahrain in 2015 with the backing of Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal.

Khashoggi fled from Saudi Arabia in September 2017, months after Prince Mohammed was appointed heir to the throne.

The sources did not say how they believed the killing was carried out. They are also believed to have been present in the consulate at the time of Khashoggi's visit.

Four luxury vehicles arrived at the consulate, which was closed for a holiday, yesterday and these vehicles left after about two hours. "Saudi Arabia must return to supporting the Syrian revolution and partnering with Turkey on this". "There is a security investigation on the issue; there is an intelligence investigation on the issue".
