Manchester United come from behind to give under-pressure Mourinho victory

In the English Premier League, Manchester United have fought back from 2 goals down, to beat Newcastle United 3-2 at Old Trafford.

If United's defence was at sea, their attack was misfiring and Marcus Rashford missed a great chance to pull a goal back when he headed wide from six yards after a cross from Romelu Lukaku.

Juan Mata and Anthony Martial started the comeback, which happened inside the last 20 minutes, after Mourinho made a raft of substitutions, including swapping Eric Bailly for Mata after just 18 minutes.

Those rumours, however, were later quashed by the club themselves, but the feeling still remains that Mourinho is living on borrowed time in the Old Trafford dugout.

And Sanchez proved the hero, scoring his first Premier League goal since March 31 by heading home in the 90th minute before United waited out five minutes of added time.

Mourinho looks set to get the global break to turn things around after attempting to avoid a fifth successive match without a win when Rafael Benitez's Newcastle visit Old Trafford.

If that sounds contradictory, then it's typical of the chaos this season, and illustrative that Mourinho can still make big calls and get things right - but simultaneously make damaging errors that hurt himself and United.

A more than proven commodity at one of the Premier League's biggest clubs, Pochettino could be the ideal candidate to get Manchester United back on track.

"Newcastle will go there for a 0-0 but United will eventually break them down".

"Today [Friday], the third day [since the Valencia game] is the first day we have all of the players together and three days in between matches is more than enough time to have the players ready for the weekend match".

"This team can do much better than what it's doing and the team will do much better than what it's doing, but if you want me to repeat, I repeat".

But despite Woodward praising Mourinho's credentials during a recent conference call to the club's investors, the former Real Madrid and Chelsea manager has grown increasingly frustrated by what he perceives to be a lack of credible, public backing from his bosses. I think, to be honest with you, I'm furious. They're playing Football Manager with the biggest club in the world.
