Jürgen Klopp offered his support to Mohamed Salah after substituting him in Liverpool's 1-1 draw at Chelsea, and backed the reigning footballer of the year to overcome his first hard spell since joining the club.

Sturridge, who also scored the Reds' sole goal in defeat to Maurizio Sarri's side on Wednesday, hit a swerving shot that smashed past Kepa Arrizabalaga and into the top corner to rescue a late point. I think so and he is trying to do it.

Everton ended a four-game winless run to beat Fulham 3-0 as Gylfi Sigurdsson made amends for missing an earlier penalty to score twice either side of Cenk Tosun's first goal of the season.

"As for Man City, I watched them against Lyon and you think something might be wrong and then they go and put on a show against Cardiff".

"After the result on Tuesday the team obviously needs positive things, positive feelings and to start losing after five minutes is not that positive start that you need", said Mourinho.

The result meant an end to Liverpool's run, however the 29-year-old believes every point is vital as Jurgen Klopp's side look to compete for the title.

Supply stand-off pushes oil to four-year high
For months, Saudi Arabia had led investors to believe that it was comfortable with Brent crude oil at about $80 per barrel.

- Daniel Sturridge is the seventh player to score 50 Premier League goals for Liverpool, after Robbie Fowler, Steven Gerrard, Michael Owen, Luis Suarez, Fernando Torres and Dirk Kuyt.

"We are not looking at this as the deciding factor of the season".

Sturridge is now Liverpool's joint-top goalscorer for the season, alongside Sadio Mane, with four goals in seven appearances. "I just want to enjoy my football and win games". We have to try to stay very close on the table with the top-level teams.

He was withdrawn shortly after the hour mark and replaced by Xherdan Shaqiri, who later assisted Daniel Sturridge's leveller, but Klopp felt Salah was getting in good positions despite his bad finishing. He was unfortunate not to get a clean sheet but he's a world-class goalkeeper, as is Si [Mignolet].

"We thought West Brom was a good idea for him to get minutes under his belt again, and when he came back, he was an option for us".

Asked about the lack of goals from his strikers, Sarri said: "I am not really anxious about it and because we have a winger who is able to score frequently".
