Gold and Satyameva Jayate collect Rs 45 crore on Independence Day release

Although collections of Satyameva Jayate were lower than Gold, footfalls for the former were lower by just about 5 per cent as compared to Kagti's film.

It is now 5th highest 1st weekend earner of 2018 at the box office, but if we include Avengers: Infinity War (94.30 crores) then it'll stand at the 6th position.

Now on the second day Thursday, the film collected approx 15 crores and with this film has cross 40 crores mark at the box office.

The collection of both the films is expected to grow in coming days.

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is once again back in the form with a great start of his recently released film Gold. Being a national holiday on August 15, the two films had collectively earned over Rs 45 crore, with Gold earning around Rs 5 crore more than the other film. It also has become the highest opening grosser of Akshay Kumar at the box office. The movie narrates the story of India's first Olympic gold medal after independence.

A report on Box Office India suggests that the Milap Zaveri directotial managed to rake in Rs 7.25 crore at the box office on day four of its release. The film stars Manoj Bajpayee and Aisha Sharma in pivotal roles.

Akshay is now riding high on the success of his sports-drama "Gold" which earned Rs.25.25 crore on the first day itself.
