Melania's Parents Now US Citizens Using Visa Opposed By Her Husband

Trump has decried "chain migration", where adult USA citizens can obtain residency for their relatives, and tweeted on November 1, 2017, "CHAIN MIGRATION must end now!"

Melania Trump's parents were briskly sworn in as citizens of the United States in NY on Thursday (Aug 9).

Michael Wildes, the couple's immigration lawyer, confirmed they took the oath of citizenship on Thursday. First lady Melania Trump's parents have been sworn in as US citizens.

Pressed on the fact that the President has harshly criticized family-based migration and regularly refers to it as "chain migration", Wildes responded: "I can't comment on the President's politics when it comes to my clients but I have stood up against the President's immigration policies personally".

Viktor, 74, is two years older than President Trump, an immigration hardliner whose zero tolerance policy on illegal border crossings resulted in the separation of more than 2,500 migrant children from their parents. Trump has advocated a "merit-based" system, but has not proposed any method of admitting immigrants to the United States to replace those categories.

"These doors that are in America remain hinged open to lovely people as they have today", Wildes said, adding, "We just thank everybody for their attention to this very important dialogue that we're having on immigration".

There are only a handful of ways immigrants can obtain green cards, and the largest share of them each year are given out based on familial connections.

Trump has sought to eliminate family-based sponsorship, which he calls "chain migration", and replace it with merit-based citizenship programs. The Jacob J. On Thursday, the president and first lady were vacationing at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminister, New Jersey, and she did not accompany her parents to the ceremony. But the Knavses' lawyer said their ceremony was kept private for "security reasons". "We just thank everyone for their attention to this very important dialogue on immigration".

Mr Knavs, who at 74, is two years older than Mr Trump, is thought to have worked as a vehicle dealer while Mrs Knavs, 73, worked in a textile factory.

According to news reports, she entered the country in 2001 on a so-called Einstein visa for "individuals of extraordinary ability" as a model.

Viktor Knavs was a auto salesman in the Slovenian town of Sevnica, while his wife Amalija worked at a textile factory.

Despite the unfolding media " shitshow ", Musk still seems to view privatization as an "enormous opportunity for us all". While it is unlikely the SEC will take action on Tuesday's tweet, there are a group of investors who are likely to sue.
