Demi Lovato Suffers Heroin Overdose, Transported to Hospital

TMZ updated its report, stating that paramedics were called to Lovato's home, where she was found unconscious. Original reports were that it was an apparent heroin overdose.

In June, Lovato released a new single titled "Sober", in which she admitted suffering a relapse.

"Her friends and him are just hoping that she gets better and that she can be great and thrive", the source added.

Talkshow host Ellen DeGeneres wrote that it broke her heart that Lovato was going through this.

According to People, the singer is now in stable condition. The statement continued, "Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now". "She is a light in this world, and I am sending my love to her and her family".

People quoted a "source close to Lovato" as saying the the overdose did not involve heroin.

Sources told entertainment website TMZ Lovato was transported "from a home in the Hollywood Hills just before noon Tuesday, and is now being treated". In the song, she apologized for letting down her family and fans.

News crews gathered outside Lovato's home in the Hollywood Hills, where vehicles were seen entering and leaving Tuesday afternoon. She later shared the video from the show of her struggling to hold back tears as she sang the heartbreaking lyrics.

The 25-year-old singer has been vocal in the past about her struggle with sobriety.

A source told Us that Valderrama was not aware that Lovato had relapsed so acutely after six years of being proudly sober.

Demi rose to fame as a Disney star, first appearing in children's television series Barney and Friends as a child.

Speaking of her reasons behind creating the documentary, she previously told Billboard: "I wanted to share this experience with my fans".
