A Chicago baseball fan has become public enemy number one after shamefully stealing a game ball off a little boy.

Cubs first-base coach Will Venable tried to do a good deed after tossing a foul ball towards a young supporter sitting with his mum in the front row of the stands. However, the ball got away from them and fell behind their seats, where a heartless man took the souvenir and gave it to what one could reasonably assume to be his girlfriend or wife. The Cubs tweeted this response: "A Javier Baez signed ball should take care of it".

One person defending the move responding to the tweet, "I like this guy, and he's got a pair of incredible shades on". A boy at Sunday's Cubs-Cardinals game in Chicago thought he was going to get a coveted foul ball, but instead it was snatched by an adult fan sitting behind him.

The mother of the child who missed out on the ball in the video, also supported the man and released a statement through the Cubs, clearing him of any wrong doing.

The tweet followed comments from Rouhani on Sunday, when he told a gathering of Iranian diplomats: " Mr. Speaking in California, he said Iranian leaders had benefited from bribes and embezzlement.

CBS News reached out to the Cubs but could not independently confirm Kaplan's account.

The Cubs got involved after the video went out.

"What they didn't see is that our son already had a foul ball".

"The whole world is calling this guy the most evil guy in the world for being a ball thief", he said.
