Orioles ‘very close’ to dealing Manny Machado

On the night of the All-Star Game, Manny Machado proudly will represent the Baltimore Orioles, the only team he's played for in the big leagues.

Heyman names the Philadelphia Phillies, Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers as leaders for Machado, with the Yankees and Cleveland Indians lagging behind.

With the Orioles sporting a historically bad 28-69 record and Machado in the last year of his contract, it's nearly a certainty the 26-year-old will be moved before the league's July 31 trade deadline.

"It's been a tremendous honor to wear this uniform".

Assuming the trade goes through as expected, the Dodgers further bolstered their World Series hopes with one of the best players in all of baseball in Machado. They gave me that. "The drafted me, I came up with them, played with them".

"So if this is the last time (wearing an Orioles uniform). hopefully I did everything I could for the organization". I'm just trying to take it all in. "I honestly haven't even thought about it like [leaving the Orioles]". If it happens, it happens. "Whatever happens with him after today, I wish him luck".

Machado, 26, spoke briefly to reporters in the American League clubhouse before the All-Star Game on Tuesday and said he has not received any updates on his status from the Orioles or his agent.

Southgate: England to make as few changes as possible for play-off
Croatia were the second team to book their place in Sunday's final in Moscow after beating England 2-1 in extra-time last night. Deflated England and Belgium will nonetheless want to end their FIFA World Cup campaign somewhat on a high on Saturday.

Through 96 games this season, Machado is batting.315 with 65 RBIs and 24 home runs.

Baltimore is scheduled to return to the field Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays without Machado in what likely triggers a pronounced rebuilding effort.

"Manny to the Phillies come Wednesday morning", reports Giglio, citing a friend in the industry with a source embedded inside the Orioles organization.

Machado makes sense given that the Dodgers lost franchise shortstop Corey Seager to Tommy John surgery, and that in tandem with the lack of production at second base has left them thin in the infield.

The Yankees are out of the mix - at least for now - according to multiple reports.

"My phone's ringing every day", Machado said of the rumors on Monday while speaking to a huge media throng at Monday's All-Star Game workout. Missing out on Machado may not be all bad. "Nothing happened past year, so I don't think my mindset is going to change". "We know what's going on, the potential". A lot of packing, a lot of cars shipped. I have a lot of friends, a lot of relationships that have grown there.
