Thai boys rescued from cave mourn diver who died

The boys, ages 11 to 16, will spend at least a month at home after leaving the hospital this week, health officials said, following a daring rescue from the Tham Luang cave complex in the northern province of Chiang Rai that captivated the world.

An unnamed source said "Although it's early days and they haven't been together for long, Rick is absolutely besotted with Amp". At least two films about the Thai cave rescue are in the works, as agents and producers vie for the rights to the story of the young footballers and their rescuers.

His boss Dr Andrew Pearce said Harris was grieving for his father.

"They had already been doing the most extraordinary dives through the cave and laying the very robust rope which made all subsequent dives to the soccer team not only possible, but safe", he wrote.

Attention had shifted away from the boys' recovery in recent days to the team of British divers who discovered the missing football team and then helped lead an worldwide rescue effort.

The search for the boys and the daring operation to rescue them caught the attention of wide audiences across the globe and the drama has now inadvertently come to focus on the plight of almost half a million people in Thailand who are stateless.

Deeply saddened by the news, the Thai Navy SEAL team offered their sympathies to Harris.

"They will be discharged altogether, initially on Thursday".

The head of the rescue mission, Narongsak Osottanakorn, has stated that the world should remember him as the true hero of the 17-day operation.

Both of those accords were the result of years of painstaking diplomacy by European leaders - and Trump unilaterally trashed them. Trump as a baby and they've already declared victory by noting that the President is largely avoiding London during his visit.

He said the Facebook post was a way of thanking all the people involved.

The AMA tweeted that Dr Harris was "an fantastic doctor and human being".

The 13-year-old captain of the team, Dom, lost about 9 pounds, his family said. "I want this time to become a period to help or support each other - to be a lovely moment for all people across the country", Chokedamrongsook added.

Some of the team have asked for Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), steak, fried eggs and rice and barbecue pork.

But two British divers found all 13 alive on July 2 in an area a couple of miles from the cave's main entrance.

As they continued to recover in the hospital, members of the youth soccer team rescued after spending 18 days in a flooded cave stopped to honor the life of the former Thai navy SEAL who died during the rescue operation.

The media-shy 53-year-old was hailed for an ingenious medical idea that helped the trapped boys stay calm during the gruelling 1.7km swim to the surface.

Meanwhile, one of the Australians helping in the rescue effort, Dr Richard Harris, says finding out about the death of his father just hours after the rescue was bittersweet.

The Thai Navy SEALs issued a statement on July 11 thanking the South Australian for his incredible efforts.
