Trump Paints Putin as ‘Competitor’ Ahead of Helsinki Summit

Donald Trump has risked a diplomatic spat by refusing to back embattled British Prime Minister Theresa May.

US President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump arrive aboard Air Force One ahead of the NATO Summit, at Brussels Military Airport in Melsbroek, Belgium. McConnell also said " there is nothing inherently wrong" about Trump meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin while he is in Europe. United States doesn't have and won't have a better ally than EU. Tusk recalled that the Europeans are spending more than Russian Federation and as much as China on defense.

"Dear America, appreciate your allies, after all you don't have that many", he said.

Donald Tusk's comments come in light on the problems emerging between the European Union and US.

The meeting comes ahead of Mr Trump's four-day working visit to the United Kingdom, during which he will hold talks with Mrs May at Chequers, meet the Queen in Windsor Castle and spend two days in Scotland preparing for Monday's face-to-face summit with Mr Putin in Finland. "It is always worth knowing who is your strategic friend and who is your strategic problem". But we'll work it out and all countries will be happy.

"Getting ready to leave for Europe. It's not a bad thing, I've said that many times".

Not only that, but Trump's suggestion that the entitled to a "reimbursement" is absurd.

Monsoon flooding cut off their escape route and prevented rescuers from finding them for nearly 10 days. Mongkhol Boonpiam's mother said last night she learned her son may have been rescued from social media.

The meeting comes at a time of fraying relations across the European Union, so will anyone stand up to the US President? "Charge us big tariffs and barriers".

Mr. Tusk chided Mr. Trump while the president was en route to Brussels. "Today, Europeans (collectively) spend on defence many times more than Russian Federation, and as much as China".

Speaking about his European trip, Trump said his sitdown with Putin might be "easiest" of all the meetings.

"If we all speak with the same voice and say you can come into the community of nations, you can be a major player for good - but not when you're violating your commitments, violating treaties, going into a sovereign nation and trying to kill a citizen as happened in United Kingdom.,' she said, referencing the Novichok attack in Britain". So we'll see. We're meeting with Vladimir Putin on Monday.

But NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg pointed out that military spending had been rising in Europe since 2014 and members were making efforts to meet the objective, particularly Germany, which is often singled out by Trump for criticism.

Other NATO countries are also expanding their presence in Eastern Europe, with Canada announcing it would extend its military presence in Latvia for another four years.

This week's summit of the 29-nation North Atlantic Treaty Organisation takes place amid a deterioration in US relations with the rest of the world as a result of Trump's protectionist stance on trade and withdrawal from global agreements to fight climate change and prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
