ESPN's Brian Windhorst was in disbelief over Paul George's puzzling OKC contract

It is indeed a wise move for the 34-year-old small forward since no National Basketball Association team is expected to pay him $27.9 million as an unrestricted free agent. This year there are some big names that are always in the hunt for a new team.

From the time Paul George broke out as an NBA All-Star with the Pacers, it was essentially assumed that he would join his hometown Lakers when free agency came along. LeBron didn't waste any time before he showed up at LAX on a private Jet to meet with the Lakers front office.

Former Syracuse standout Jerami Grant has agreed to a new three-year, $27 million contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski. The wide-eyes emoji was favored by other players, including Lakers draftee Moritz Wagner, as well as the Kings' Buddy Hield, the Trail Blazers' Jusuf Nurkic and free agent Marreese Speights. There's also a difference in personalities, and that's where things get tricky for a team thinking about taking an OKC-type gamble. If he had elected to go with a two-year deal, he could have been a free agent again next summer with the player option.

Durant will be paid about $30.5 million this coming season, about $5 million less than he could have commanded if the deal was structured differently. That's why many believed if he did stay in Oklahoma City, it would be in the form of a 1-and-1 deal, similar to the one Kevin Durant recently signed with the Warriors.

Cavani scores twice, Uruguay ousts Ronaldo and Portugal 2-1
Uruguay had eight blocked shot attempts after having just five in the first three games combined. To go one step further than Lionel Messi. "We have great players, a fantastic group".

Shortly after the 12:01 EDT a.m. start on Sunday, Cavs general manager Koby Altman spoke on the phone to both James and his agent Rich Paul, said the person who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the discussion. I am stunned he took this deal like this ... Los Angeles will still be there, calling, winking, tugging at his heartstrings the way it clearly has for years. He's the next superstar to follow in the legacy that Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson built for the Lakers. The 33-year-old is not expected to drag out a decision that could reshape the league's landscape.

But it worked, on the court and off, and that bond is necessary if the Thunder are going to challenge Golden State and Houston for Western Conference supremacy anytime soon. The Mavericks finally are getting DeAndre Jordan.

LA will still be there in three or four years, if he wants to still play there. James will not take part in the meeting, the person said.
