Golden retriever puppy saves owner from being bit by rattlesnake

Paula Godwin went on a walk Friday with her two dogs, Todd and Copper, along 7th Street in Arizona on a trail she's very familiar with.

Paula Godwin says she and her dogs were out hiking near Seventh Street and Carefree Highway when she nearly stepped on a rattlesnake.

Todd jumped to protect Godwin and was bitten in the face in the process, Godwin says.

"That snake would have bit my leg for sure and he is absolutely my hero", Godwin told 7News.

Upon closer inspection of the viral picture, it's clear that Todd has a bandage above his right, front paw, as it looks like he is hooked up to an IV.

The post also included a collage of photos of Todd, some of which showed the 6-month-old Golden Retriever wearing the effects of a venomous bite.

Paul George commits to re-sign with OKC Thunder
There had been much speculation leading up to the decision that George had been leaning toward re-signing with the Thunder. Oklahoma City could face the largest tax bill in National Basketball Association history, according to ESPN .

The grateful owner posted the story of their snake encounter on Facebook, alongside photographs of Todd's swollen features. Thankfully, Godwin had a guardian angel in Todd.

It has been interacted with more than 200,000 times since it was posted Sunday afternoon.

Todd took the bite, right to the face.

"Todd wants to help more puppies that may need help. Donations are not towards Todd's bill but for those in need of help in paying unexpected vet bills".

Posting an update on the dog's recovery, Godwin added: "Todd's doing so well he is a wonder to me how he is healing".
