DeAndre Jordan, Mavericks Reportedly Verbally Agree to 1-Year, $24M Contract

DeAndre Jordan's verbal agreement to sign with the Dallas Mavericks on a one-year deal worth almost $24 million will not be broken this time around.

Jordan, who has been with the Clippers his entire 10-year career, has a deadline of 8:59 PDT Friday to exercise the option of his contract that will pay him $24.1 million next season.

The Times reported earlier this week the Clippers gave Jordan and his agent, Jeff Schwartz, permission to seek a trade, and that the Mavericks were targeting the center.

According to several media reports, Jordan has opted out his current deal with the Clippers, a move that will make him an unrestricted free agent at 11:01 p.m. Saturday night. That is a fantastic deal for Dallas, who will stay very flexible on cap next summer when many more free agents will be available. "Whether it's via free agency, whether it's via a trade, you're constantly looking for ways to improve the roster".

The Dallas Mavericks are the heavy favorites to land Jordan, just a few years after he spurned Dallas at the last minute and re-signed with Los Angeles.

Only $2.1 million of Teodosic's $6.3-million contract for 2018-19 is guaranteed. In 10 National Basketball Association seasons, all with the Clippers, he has career averages of 9.4 points, 10.7 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 1.7 blocks.

Jordan can officially sign after the moratorium period ends Friday.

Jordan averaged 12 points and a career-high 15.2 rebounds per game this past season.

Even though Dallas declined Dirk Nowitzki's player option, the Mavs plan on resigning the veteran big man.
