Saudi Arabia v Egypt 25 June 2018

Saudi Arabia's Salem Aldawsari flips to celebrate scoring his side's winning goal with the final kick of the game against Egypt.

Both teams made ideal starts to the World Cup, winning their opening games against Egypt and Saudi Arabia respectively.

"I think that in general we kept control of the pace, we kept possession. and I think that we deserved to win", Saudi coach Juan Antonio Pizzi said.

It was Egypt who broke the deadlock on 21 minutes as Salah latched onto a long ball before lobbing the on-rushing Yasser Al Mosailem to nestle the ball in the back of the net.

The Middle East nation were handed another chance from the spot after a foul by Ali Gaber, and this time they made no mistake as Salman Al faraj converted easily on the stroke of halftime.

However, glory can not be taken away from the Egyptian goalkeeper who made the record of being the oldest player to play in the FIFA World Cup and he had some major highlights while saving an incredible penalty.

Xherdan Shaqiri says controversial celebration was 'emotion' during Switzerland win over Serbia
His brother plays for Albania's national team. "They're trying to provoke us but we won't get dragged down to their level". Granit Xhaka and Xherdan Shaqiri celebrated their goals by making a nationalist symbol of their ethnic Albanian heritage.

El Hadary was unable to repeat the feat when Alfaraj lined up against him at the end of the half, going the wrong way and having no chance.

He had no chance with Aldawsari's last-gasp victor, however.

Essam El Hadary became the oldest player in World Cup history on Monday and marked the occasion with a penalty save.

Saudi Arabia finished third in the group standings, scoring their only goals of the tournament and vastly improving from the 5-0 thrashing by hosts Russian Federation in their opening game.

Uruguay sealed top spot in World Cup Group A with a 3-0 win over 10-man Russian Federation at the Samara Arena this afternoon. Only Russia and Uruguay have secured enough points to continue ahead from Group A.

After weathering Egypt's dominance in the early stages of the first half, Saudi Arabia visibly grew in confidence, keeping possession for long stretches.
