Cyberpunk 2077 will be a first-person RPG game

CD Projekt Red shared some more details about its highly anticipated RPG, Cyberpunk 2077.

Since CDPR is the same studio that brought us The Witcher 3, a third-person RPG, many fans assumed the Cyberpunk follow-up would bring the same perspective.

In this report, CD Projekt Red described Cyberpunk 2077 as a "mature experience intended for mature audiences".

We learned a lot of things during our demo session with CD Projekt's long-awaited Cyberpunk 2077 today, including that you'll be able to play the game as either a woman or a man, each with full voice-acted dialogue.

As of yet we still don't have any release date at all for Cyberpunk, so it's a safe bet that this will come out in 2019 at the earliest, and we wouldn't be shocked if it slipped to 2020.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be releasing on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Street creds allow you to unlock different vendors and "fixers" who give you different jobs to do.

At this point, looking at the possible meaning of the code introduce in the E3 2018 trailer, it seems likely it could mean "Gamescom Koelnmesse" instead, the next big event in the video games industry for the year.

While the gameplay is in first-person, cutscenes are shown in a third-person view.

The goal is for you to not only engage with the game world, but with its inhabitants.

Camera viewpoint aside, players will be able to create their own character (male or female) and select a unique backstory for them by generating a "lifepath", a carry-over from 2077's pen-and-paper roots. IGN used this as an example of how you can raise your street cred: "a specific jacket might raise it by 5%, allowing you to access new places".

So what will prevent Cyberpunk 2077 from becoming a mindless shooter?

Being an RPG, it shares some basic similarities with The Witcher, namely the ability to comb the open-world for side quests by chatting with NPCs.
