'Brilliant, fearless spirit': Fans and friends mourn Anthony Bourdain, dead at 61

The New York Post reported that the prosecutor of Colmar in France's Alsace region says that Bourdain hanged himself in the bathroom of his French hotel room. He also added that a medical expert concluded no signs of violence on Bourdain's body.

Bourdain's mother told The Post, "He was an incredible guy". "We thought it was unusual".

Ripert, who was in France to film an upcoming episode of Parts Unknown with Bourdain, told Gladys that "Tony had been in a dark mood" in the days leading up to his death. Just two weeks ago, she was spending time with Anthony in Florence, Italy and she was also seen on the set of his show Parts Unknown.

"He knew the kitchen", the waiter recalled.

"The show actually had nothing to do with us being arrested, and if anything I think our appearance there - with really one of the most beloved television personalities, and people, of our generation - raised awareness in a different kind of way that nothing else could have", he said.

On Friday, Anthony, 61, was found dead in his room at the Le Chambard hotel in Kaysersberg-Vignoble, France.

The apparent suicides of renowned chef and food writer Anthony Bourdain and famous handbag designer Kate Spade in the past week have raised public awareness about people killing themselves. And provided the phone number for the suicide hotlines in the US and United Kingdom.

The tweet, which blew up on social media, was captioned: "I still haven't booked any holidays". If Jordan Pickford starts again he's got the jersey.

And while the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention analysis showed New Jersey's overall suicide rate rose 19 percent between 1999 and 2016, it also revealed the state has the second-lowest rate in the nation, after the District of Columbia, and more than 40 percent lower than the national average of 15.4 per 100,000 deaths by suicide. He attended the Culinary Institute of America before working at New York City restaurants including the Supper Club, One Fifth Avenue and Ed Sullivan's. In "No Reservations" on the Travel Channel, he went to Haiti after the devastating quake in 2011, and reflected on his ambivalence at being there.

The prosecutor hopes the investigation into Mr Bourdain's death will help his loved ones understand what happened to the seemingly happy man in his final hours.

Bourdain's culinary passions went far beyond the cuisine he put on a plate.

"You don't have to attend every argument you are invited to", Ms. Devine says. "Not all suicides are preventable, but many are".

Suicide is a growing problem in the United States, where rates have increased by 25% nationwide over almost two decades ending in 2016. "The causes of suicide are complex but this nation faces eroding protections in the form of declining local communities". "Given our limited time on this earth, and the sheer magnificence, the near limitless variety of sensory experiences readily available, you don't want to miss ANY of it". The much-discussed decline of religion and civic participation has diminished the camaraderie of daily life.
