Justify triumphs in Belmont Stakes to win the Triple Crown

With his Triple Crown victory Saturday, Justify became the most valuable horse in racing history.

This time out Justify will face 9 other horses trying to keep him from sweeping the Triple Crown. He is only the second trainer in the sport's history to accomplish the feat, and he joined "Sunny Jim" Fitzsimmons, who trained Gallant Fox in 1930 and Omaha in 1935. Justify has the same trainer, Bob Baffert. He burnished his reputation by defeating nine rivals, the most faced by any Triple Crown champion.

Justify broke from the starting gate like a Quarter Horse, Smith said, immediately striding out for the lead. "He's so gifted he's sent from heaven", Smith said of Justify, who was the 4/5 favorite.

Fans streamed into Belmont Park on Saturday in anticipation of watching Justify try to become the second Triple Crown victor since 2015.

The throughbred's accomplishment marks the second horse to win the elusive three races in three years, as American Pharoah also took home the tile in 2015. Baffert declared that he had a plan that would allow the promising 3-year-old to overcome what seemed to be a hopelessly late start and still qualify for the 20-horse Kentucky Derby.

Trump torpedoes G7 effort to ease trade spat, threatens auto tariffs
President Donald Trump delivered a "rant" and recriminations on trade to U.S. allies, leaving the once united club deeply divided. Canada wants a deal too, but the Trudeau government views the U.S.'s proposed five-year sunset clause as a non-starter.

The three-year-old colt, ridden by Mike Smith, is now unbeaten in six races since his debut in February. Gronkowski was a bit green in the stretch, changing leads several times under Jose Ortiz, but ran well to finish second. That could be a bit of a challenge for Justify and Bravazo, both of whom raced well in the mud; but it could mean good things for horses like Free Drop Billy and Noble Indy, who didn't.

"I can't describe the emotions going through my body right now", he continued. Vino Rosso began making his move around the outside, and Gronkowski was steadily picking off horses along the inside rail. "And I am so happy for Mike Smith".

"As I say, I've got to give all the credit to my daughter who planned the mating of Justify, and my staff at Glennwood".

"I wanted to see that horse's name up there because we know he was brilliant from Day 1", Baffert said.
