Amazon’s new Fire TV Cube turns Alexa into your remote

Amazon’s new Fire TV Cube turns Alexa into your remote

Over the a year ago we invited customers to use Echo Look and give us feedback, which led to the launch of many new features-we're now excited to make the device available to all customers, with even more fashionable features and functionality to come that will help customers look their best every day.

Amazon's latest product, the recently announced Fire TV Cube, is a triple-threat - but is it a threat to the Apple TV? This enables you to use the Alexa voice assistant without having to switch on your TV.

The Fire TV Cube has dual-band Wi-Fi built in but also comes with an Ethernet adapter for a wired internet connection. Plug it in and you can start your TV, cable box, sound bar, and A/V receiver with just a simple voice command: "Alexa, turn on the TV".

While the Cube aptly blends Fire TV and Amazon Echo functionalities, there's an extra reason why you might want to get your hands on it. Amazon has worked closely with Netflix to build support for voice into its app, as well as content providers such as Hulu, ESPN, FOX, Showtime, STARZ, CBS, and NBC. Echo Show is also an expertly tuned speaker that can fill any room with immersive audio powered by Dolby. You can do things like ask for the weather, check your calendar, and get your daily briefing all thanks to the streaming box.

Once Dominant, Facebook Falls Behind Snapchat, YouTube As Teens' Favorite Social Network
Pew researchers say theres no clear consensus among teens on whether these services are good or bad for them. Just seven percent said that they use the popular social news aggregation site Reddit .

Amazon has already carved out a spot in many living rooms with its Fire TV set-top boxes and streaming sticks-without divulging numbers, Amazon claims it has sold the most video streaming devices by units. Another plus: since it's created to hook up to a TV, users can easily control and view smart camera feeds. Customers who purchase and register their Fire TV Cube by July 1, will also receive a $10 credit for Prime Video. Comcast, DISH and DirecTV are among the cable services that are supported at launch.

Amazon's Fire TV Cube is available for order today at $119.99 and will ship on June 21.

Amazon is also offering a separate IR extender which will increase the reach of the Fire TV Cube. As an introductory offer, Prime members can order on June 7 and 8 for a special price of $89.99a $30 savings.
