"We continue with the ground search of the survivors and we trust that in the next one hour, we should have very comprehensive information", stated the PS.

"The search will be carried out for the next 24 hours until we are able to recover the lost aircraft", he said during a press briefing on Wednesday afternoon.

A Kenyan official says the search for a small plane that went missing on Tuesday with 10 people on board has been suspended until the morning.

Two female pilots are among those missing after their plane is believed to have crashed within Aberdare forest, Nyandarua County.

The plane was coming from Kitale and was headed to Nairobi.

The Cesna C208 plane with registration number 5Y-CAC had ten people on board.

The Cessna C208was initially supposed to land at Nairobi Wilson Airport but the controller at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) asked the pilots to take a turn and head there instead.

A section of the search and rescue team was waiting to be airlifted from Njambini playground to the search zone at 7am.

- Teams from KCAA, Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) and the Air Accident Investigation Division of Kenya (AAID) were dispatched immediately the plane was reported missing.

Bad weather was hampering the search and rescue operation and according to the National Disaster Management Unit (NDMU), a National Police Service helicopter was scouring the area around the Aberdares Forest or Ndakaini where the search is concentrated, but there was poor visibility.

As at the time of the address around 2pm, the police were yet to being the search for the missing plane, almost 20 hours after it was reported missing.
