Kim Jong-un personally indicated he's prepared to denuclearize: Pompeo

Heading into his North Korea summit with characteristic bravado, President Donald Trump said Thursday that "attitude" is more important than preparation as he looks to negotiate an accord with Kim Jong Un to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula. Any deal reached as a result of the meeting between Trump and the North Korean leader Kim would be brought before the Congress for its stamp of approval so that it can not be reversed by any future administration, said Pompeo, who is spearheading the American efforts for talks with Pyongyang.

Preparing to depart Washington for next week's meeting, Trump dangled before Kim visions of normalized relations with the United States, economic investment and even a White House visit.

During a press conference with the Japanese prime minister in Washington, President Donald Trump was asked if he would host Kim Jong-un at the White House or at his Florida resort Mar-a-Lago.

"We don't use the term anymore because we're going into a friendly negotiation", Trump said. And while you've been trying to keep up with every detail of what will go down in that meeting, you should also know that the historic summit will be held in Singapore's Capella Hotel. "II think they've been preparing for a long time also".

The U.S. wants to see the complete, verifiable and irreversible dismantlement of the North's weapons of mass destruction programs. They've been preparing for a long time, also.

"Until we achieve our goals, the measures that the world, alongside the United States has put on the regime will remain".

"I think it's going to be a very fruitful meeting, I think it's going to be an exciting meeting". "And again, I say that with hope that maybe something can happen", said the U.S. President.

Before that bigger gathering, energy ministers from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait plan to meet on Saturday. The difference is giving trading giants an opportunity to export millions of barrels as shale output continues to surge.

"These programmes threaten our homeland, our allies and partners, and the broader non-proliferation regime".

The North Korean leader is a "demon", said Kim Sang-jin, a former South Korean soldier turned anti-North Korea protester. "It has supporting infrastructure that is also of concern", he said. "What I have said publicly is he has indicated to me personally that he is prepared to denuclearize, that he understands that the current model doesn't work, that he is prepared to denuclearize and that two, he understands we can't do it the way we've done it before, that this has to be big and bold and we have to agree to making major changes".

"It's why the two leaders are meeting". If you're not going to be able to walk away - we didn't walk away from the frightful Iran deal that was signed, and if you look at what's happened, since I signed that deal, Iran and in all fairness, I say it with great respect for the people of Iran, but Iran is acting a lot differently.

"We can't step through this over years, but rather need to acknowledge it will take some amount of time, that this doesn't happen instantaneously".

Pompeo emphasized, though, the USA will guarantee North Korea's security as well as political normalization, . if it follows through on its pledge to denuclearize.

"You've got to lose some weight too", says the banner for the gym, which shows a photograph of the portly North Korean leader next to a bikini-clad woman. "We are going to travel there", the US Secretary of State said. "This has already driven us to a place we've not been able to achieve before", he said.

About the personal letter delivered to Mr. Trump from Mr. Kim last week, he said, "The letter was just a greeting".
