Apple's New Group Facetime Feature Panned On Twitter

It will send users weekly reports on how they use their iPhones or iPads.

Apple has announced new digital wellness features to help combat technology addiction at their Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) in San Jose on June 4.

Craig Federighi reveals Apple's plan to get people to use their phone less often.

Here's a look at the newest features coming soon to the iPhone when iOS 12 launches as a free software update in the Fall.

A new Do Not Disturb during Bedtime mode will dim the phone's display and hide all notifications on the lock screen until you prompt it in the morning. If you're concerned how much time you - or your family - spend on your iPhone or iPad, Apple has you covered with its next big release.

If you have an iPhone do you welcome these changes? They can set time limits on specific apps - and set controls for kids. You get alerted when you're running out of time, and can request an extension if needs be. Joining the current roster will be a ghost, tiger, koala, and T-rex.

It will also add new features to help users clean up desktops, preview photos, alter screenshots and an app to create password-protected PDFs. Called a Memoji, the feature lets you create a cartoon version of yourself. Options include hair type, skin color, outfit choices, and accessories. The software will then recreate your head and face movements just like the other Animojis in Messages.

The tweet, which blew up on social media, was captioned: "I still haven't booked any holidays". If Jordan Pickford starts again he's got the jersey.

Apple announced that it's finally bringing group calling support to its FaceTime video messaging app, allowing up to 32 individuals to call and join in on a single FaceTime livestream between connected and compatible Mac, iPhone and iPad devices. In other words, if you choose to reset the alternate appearance, you'll also have to clear out all existing data around your own face, too.

Meanwhile, the camera in Messages is getting new effects, including filters, shapes and stickers.

iOS 12 seems like a meaningful step forward for the operating system.

A new app called Measure was also introduced, which lets users measure real-life objects with their smart device. "Ultimately, Apple might be able to sell more phones by telling people, "Our phones come with these structures that allow you to not spend so much time on your phone'".

In taking aim at Facebook, Apple has explicitly signalled that it is against ad-based tracking across the web and that it's willing to do something about it. Federighi says the snooping warning, which will be present in Apple's Safari browser on iPhone, iPad and Mac, will target Like buttons, share buttons and comment fields that are added to websites from third-parties. In the coming update, you'll be able to set your phone to hide the wall of notifications that can build up on your device overnight.

The announcement is Apple's most significant counter yet to Facebook's data collection practices, and comes after years in which Apple executives have criticized Facebook as reckless with user privacy.
