It took the most unusual journey to get to overtime, but the Warriors ultimately prevailed in a 124-114 victory in Game 1 of the 2018 NBA Finals on Thursday night at Oracle Arena.

The play took place with 36.3 seconds remaining in regulation when LeBron James initially drew a charge on Kevin Durant.

Speaking to reporters prior to Game One in Oakland, Silver said the Cavaliers were back in part due to the transcendent play of forward LeBron James and the Warriors could thank their team chemistry and potent lineup. While James was clearly outside the restricted area, officials also had the chance to review whether James was in legal guarding position and changed the call to a block.

Upon review, it did look like a blocking foul on LeBron (although in real time it was one of those bang-bang National Basketball Association plays that can be called either way).

Durant proceeded to the foul line and drained two free throws, tying the game at 104-104.

Instead of the Cavs having the ball up two, the Warriors were able to tie things. In a game that was tightly contested until overtime, Curry was often the one matching LeBron's huge moments for the Warriors.

Marchessault was forced to the dressing room, but would return to the ice minutes later. " He was yelling at me from the bench". Ten goals by nine different players, four lead changes and some controversy, to be sure, which we'll get to later.

"It was a tie ballgame and we had a timeout", Smith said, via Dave McMenamin of ESPN. Kevin Durant won the award previous year and Iguodala won it in 2015, but before anyone gets too far down that road, it would be wise to remember that LeBron James won it in 2016 as his team upset the heavily-favored Warriors, who had gotten off to a 3-1 start in the series. "I felt some pain throughout my entire right side of my ankle into my leg".

LeBron James says he has a "great working relationship" with Cavs owner Dan Gilbert, but dodged a question about it affecting his free agency decision this summer.

"To do what he did tonight and come out robbed, it's just not right", Lue said. "We just got to be patient and not get discouraged when he makes shots and just keep playing hard". But it wasn't enough when Curry answered with a three-point play followed by Smith's miscue.

"I want to thank Shaq for acknowledging me for missing three dunks in a game as a 6-11 guy", Embiid said in a video accepting the award. "I [had] seen the play happening".

But even then, the Warriors are going to put Love in pick-and-roll situations as often as possible. But, Thompson would return and posted 24 points.

Let's play along. How could we not after the show this floor general put on throughout the game's opening half and the closing minutes of regulation?
