Roseanne Barr's racist tweet shouldn't have surprised ABC

Roseanne had posted a statement on Twitter apologising for her "bad taste joke".

As for Barr's comments, she was sacked from her hit ABC series Roseanne today after tweeting an anti-Semitic conspiracy and saying, "muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj" - which a refernce to the former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett, who is a person of color.

In the post-firing tweet, Barr apologised to "all the wonderful writers (all liberal) and talented actors who lost jobs on my show due to my stupid tweet".

Barr also revealed she would appear on Joe Rogan's podcast on Friday.

Later she saw the error of her ways, tweeting: "I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans".

In addition to ABC's canceling of Roseanne, Barr's talent agency, ICM Partners dropped her as a client.

'I apologise. I am now leaving Twitter'. Standard Media Index, another industry tracking service, estimated that advertisers spent an average of $167,159 per 30-second ad during the show in April, which made "Roseanne" ABC's most expensive show.

Comedian Barr, who is most well-known for starring in the American sitcom Roseanne, said in a now deleted tweet: "muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj". "What changed, ABC? Because Roseanne has been writing racist tweets since forever".

"Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have made a decision to cancel her show", read a statement from Channing Dungey. "It's not the first time she's done it", Lemon said. I am sorry for making a thoughtless joke that does not reflect my values - I love all people and am very sorry. "It was widely known and meticulously documented that she was a flagrant bigot before @ABC & @Disney rolled out the red carpet for her anyway", he tweeted.

The fallout from Roseanne Barr's tweet comparing former Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett, a black woman, to an ape has been swift and decisive.

"I am hurt, embarrassed, and disappointed".

In the early hours of Wednesday morning, she responded to those who had been jumping to her defence, urging them: "Guys I did something unforgiveable so do not defend me". I feel so empowered by @iamwandasykes, Channing Dungey and anyone at ABC standing up for morals and abuse of power.
