On Monday, the demonstrations will also show their unhappiness over the inauguration of the U.S. embassy, which comes five months after Trump recognised Jerusalem as Israel's capital. Israel says it has a right to defend its border and has accused Hamas of using the protests as a cover for attacking the border.

Earlier this week, Hamas's leader in Gaza Yahya Sinwar said he hoped that hundreds of thousands of Palestinians would breach the border fence from Gaza into Israel during next week's protests.

The war crimes committed by Israel on the Gaza border over the last six weeks have elicited no critical response from the USA corporate media; in fact the killing and wounding of thousands of Palestinians has been treated as a virtual non-event.

One man walked onto the stage with an effigy of President Donald Trump dangling from a noose.

One Palestinian was killed and hundreds wounded in the "Great Return" march on Friday, ahead of the 70th Nakba anniversary and the USA moving its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. He has raised the possibility of a mass border breach, comparing protesters to a "starving tiger", unpredictable and full of pent-up anger.

Nakba Day, which commemorates the Palestinian experience that came with the establishment of the state of Israel, will be marked this year on May 15, the day after the embassy dedication.

The protest comes ahead of the anniversary next week that will be marked by mass demonstrations along the Gaza border, the culmination of a month of protest that has also focused on anger at the U.S. decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital and move their embassy to the city.

The latest bloody attack by Israel came only a few days after President Donald Trump announced that the United States was pulling out of the Iran nuclear accord and would enforce punishing economic sanctions against Iran.

Leroy Sane set for Man City contract talks
An Etihad source said: "Leroy loves it here and wants to stay but it looks like it's all going to have to wait for now". If they win their remaining game at Southampton they will surpass the Blues' 2004-05 record of 15 wins on the road.

One Palestinian was shot dead and at least 170 Palestinians were wounded in the clashes on Friday, Palestinian sources reported. As a result of the embargo the overwhelming majority of Gaza's residents live in poverty and 43 percent of the population is unemployed, the highest jobless rate in the world.

Israeli soldiers fired live rounds and volleys of tear gas.

Deifallah, who is unemployed like nearly half of the Gaza labor force, said he would join Monday's protest and is not afraid to die.

"What's the problem with hundreds of thousands breaking through a fence that is not a border?"

About 5,000 people participated in the demonstrations, the Israeli army said.

The Hamas-led demonstrations, fueled by despair in Gaza, are part of a campaign to break the blockade imposed by Israel and Egypt after the Hamas takeover of Gaza in 2007.

It says in a statement that forces are searching for the driver who fled the scene.

Many of Jordan's residents are descendants of Palestinian refugees.
