Washington ends Derrius Guice's slide

Washington Redskins fans might feel a bit of deja vu when running back Derrius Guice takes the field this year.

LSU running back Derrius Guice's National Football League draft slide ended Friday night.

Redskins coach Jay Gruden said the team saw the late reports about Guice, but spoke to his agent and felt good about taking him.

Following that selection, reports surfaced that Guice's fall was primarily due to what teams perceived to be maturity issues on the running back's part.

Guice created a strong pushback from LGBTQ advocates with the accusations, claims he made in a SiriusXM interview last month.

Trump to dispatch Mnuchin to China to discuss trade
Mnuchin recently discussed Xi's proposals with Chinese officials, saying "we're cautiously optimistic". He added that a delegation led by Mnuchin has "a very good chance at making a deal".

"It did surprise me because a lot of the things came out of nowhere and weren't true, and I just didn't understand why me out of all people, because I'm great to everybody", Guice told Redskins reporters on a conference call Friday night.

"I'm just going casual", he said Wednesday from just outside of the draft venue, AT&T Stadium, in this sprawling Dallas suburb.

The NFL conducted an investigation and found no evidence that any team asked Guice inappropriate questions. Six running backs had been taken ahead of him by that point, including three others from the SEC. Those aren't pedestrian numbers for most backs, but for Guice, they fell short of his expectations.

Guice rushed for 2,638 yards and 26 touchdowns over the past two seasons for LSU. "Can't really let my personality shine like normal", the record-setting LSU running back continued.

Guice does have durability concerns, which could have contributed to him not being drafted higher.
