Constand remained stoic as the verdicts were read, and only later embraced supporters and the other accusers in the same court where almost one year ago, a mistrial was declared during Cosby's trial on the same charges after jurors weren't able to reach a unanimous verdict.

"We are so happy that finally we can say, women are believed, and not only on #MeToo, but in a court of law", Allred told reporters.

The disgraced comedian, 80, initially showed no emotion and looked down at the table in front of him as the verdicts were read, but lashed out after jurors left the courtroom.

And she slammed the #MeToo movement itself, calling Cosby its victim and likening it to a witch hunt or a lynching.

The charges stemmed from the allegations of Constand, a former Temple University women's basketball administrator who said Cosby drugged her with three pills and assaulted her at his home in January 2004.

Defense attorney Kathleen Bliss chastised Constand for "cavorting around with a married man old enough to be her grandfather".

The panel of seven men and five women have been deliberating about 14 hours.

Cosby was allowed to go home after surrendering his passport but will be sentenced at a later date.

Cosby's defense team has struck hard at Constand by questioning her credibility.

But Dibaba was soon reduced to a walking pace to leave Keitany with only her two male pacemakers for company. Six-time Paralympic gold medalist Weir won the men's wheelchair race for an unprecedented eighth time.

Prosecutors were able to call five additional accusers who testified that Cosby also drugged and violated them - including one woman who asked him through her tears, "You remember, don't you, Mr. Cosby?" Five of the other accusers testified against him at the retrial.

Despite more than 50 women coming forward with sexual assault claims against Cosby, the alleged assault of Constand has been the only one contested in court.

The sedative was a popular party drug before the USA banned it more than 30 years ago.

As rapt jurors listened to the judge overseeing Bill Cosby's sex assault retrial read back prior testimony, the entertainer's lead lawyer snoozed in his chair.

"I wanted to know what pills he gave to me, and why he did that to me", Constand said.

Andrea Constand, the woman at the center of the charges, hugged loved ones as she exited the courthouse. Cosby's defense team told jurors that the sex between Constand and Cosby occurred multiple times and that each encounter was consensual. He faces a defamation lawsuit from Summer Zervos, a contestant on his former reality show who accuses him of sexually harassing her. Trump's lawyer has said her accusations are false and politically motivated.

Exhausted jurors called it a night after rehearing excerpts from Cosby's old deposition testimony.

Like many of Cosby's other accusers, Constand said she was drugged and violated while unable to defend herself.

Cosby paid Constand almost $3.4 million (R39.8m) in 2006.
