Malaysia releases new suspect photo in Hamas engineer murder

Hamas, an Islamist militant group that rules the Gaza Strip, have accused Israel's Mossad spy agency of assassinating Batash, whom they say was a member of their group.

A hospital post-mortem report showed Al Batsh, 35, was shot 14 times in his body and head, Fuzi told reporters, adding the suspects fired at least 20 rounds.

But Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman Sunday denied claims of the Jewish state's involvement, suggesting instead that it was a "settling of accounts" between factions of a terror group.

Meanwhile, Humanitarian Care Malaysia Chief Executive Officer Kamarul Zaman Shaharul Anwar, who attended the funeral, said an unnamed Malaysian couple will accompany Fadi's family to Palestine.

Disclosing this to Bernama today, the envoy said the latest development is pursuant to the ongoing discussions he has been having with several parties in Egypt, including the matter of his family's passage back to Gaza. "(We) have to seek assistance from local and worldwide agencies", he said.

Al-Batsh, an electrical engineering lecturer at a Malaysian university, was believed to have been working on Hamas' unmanned aerial vehicle program and was working on improving the accuracy of its rockets.

The one-time ace of the Mets' vaunted pitching staff found out he was being demoted to the bullpen, and wasn't too happy about it. His future is still in his own hands and it's up to him if he will soon land back in the New York Mets starting rotation.

Malaysian police released on Monday computer-generated images of two men suspected of killing al-Batsh outside his complex the capital.

A Kawasaki motorcycle was found abandoned near a lake about nine minutes from the scene, from which police were able to trace a photo of one of the suspects, Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun told reporters. In 2016, Hamas blamed Mossad for the killing of a Tunisian national it described as one of its drone experts.

Israel has a long history of suspected targeting of wanted Palestinian militants in daring overseas operations around the globe and has been linked to other assassinations as well, though it has rarely publicly acknowledged them.

Israel is widely believed to have killed numerous Palestinian resistance activists in the past, many of them overseas.

The Palestinians who are sent to Malaysia to study are meant to operate under cover when they return to the West Bank where they will deliver messages and transfer funds to Hamas in Gaza.
