New York Mets vs. Atlanta Braves, 4/20/2018 Prediction & Odds

Harvey did try to make a case for staying in the rotation when he met with team officials, but a decision had already been reached.

Right now, all things are not even, and it's not the little things that are costing Matt Harvey. In his most recent start agains the Braves on Thursday, Harvey gave up six runs on eight hits over six innings, forcing the Mets brass to spend two days thinking about how to proceed with him.

After the game, New York Mets manager Mickey Callaway said he doesn't know if the right-hander will make his next scheduled start, telling reporters, "I'm not sure what we're going to do". NY had only six hits in the game and three of their runs came in the eighth inning when they trailed 10-1.

Harvey has started 104 major league games and come out of the bullpen just once, doing it last season.

Jacob deGrom is expected to take the mound for his fifth start of the season for NY.

Donald Trump tweets he's considering pardon of boxer Jack Johnson
Lawyers for the Justice Department at the time argued that Johnson's relationship with a white woman was a "crime against nature". He skipped bail and fled to Europe, but served nearly a year behind bars when he returned to the 1920.

Both teams have gotten off to better than expected starts this season. Speaking of which, over 80% of you believed at that time that NY should move Harvey to the 'pen. His future is still in his own hands and it's up to him if he will soon land back in the New York Mets starting rotation.

Hopefully, Harvey gets a sense of motivation through his skipper's decision.

"It's inevitable that he's going to create begins for all of us&rdquo".

The one-time ace of the Mets' vaunted pitching staff found out he was being demoted to the bullpen, and wasn't too happy about it. Harvey, right now, is not producing as a starting pitcher, so why keep him in the rotation? Harvey surrendered four runs in five innings the following day against Washington.

Harvey is not the first pitcher to be moved to the bullpen after a string of inconsistent performances as a starter. "I have to suck it up and go out there and do everything I can to get things back in gear". Even if he can not return to the level he was at in 2013, him proving himself in the bullpen, working his way back into a starting role, and producing quality outings will give the Mets a huge boost to their pitching staff. And, with the Mets no longer being in the business of only development and rebuilding, they need to field the best, most effective players possible. He also acknowledged that while he believes Harvey can help the Mets coming out of the bullpen, it's also likely that he'll be a starter again some time this season.
