#TwitterDown: Twitter was down for a number of users across the globe

As reported, Twitter stopped working in the United States, parts of Europe including the United Kingdom and Japan. The message further reads, "Thanks for noticing - we're going to fix it up and have things back to normal soon".

Earlier in January this year, Twitter went down in a similar fashion and it could not be reached at all.

Twitter users have put up numerous posts about their inability to enter the site.

Most of the reported outages in the US appeared to be concentrated along the East Coast.

According to crowd-sourced data from DownDetector, the issues are believed to have started at around 15.00. The app also seems to be affected by the outage as users are not able to tweet and refresh the news feed.

In the Down Detector website, which tracks services when they go offline, many users from Mumbai to NY were reporting outage.
