The freezing rain will change to over to rain Sunday evening.

The forecasted weather has prompted airlines to warn travellers to brace for delays and cancellations, while power companies have said they are ready to respond to outages.

The ice storm warning is in effect until 2 p.m., Sunday.

Environment Canada says it expects ice buildup of up to 25 millimetres, and wind gusts of up to 70 or 80 kilometres per hour that could bring down trees and power lines.

Environment Canada is warning of possible power outages related to the freezing rain and the gusting winds from the northwest are expected to accompany the storm. However, as the low gets close to Southern Ontario Saturday night, freezing rain is expected to move back in, and may persist well into Sunday before changing over to rain. As a result, the Grand River Conservation Authority has issued a flood watch for the entire watershed.

A complex weather system will affect much of southern and eastern Ontario this weekend and possibly into Monday.
