Cohen and Trump are now being sued by porn star Stormy Daniels, who seeks to void her own hush deal over an alleged dalliance with Trump for which she was paid $130,000.

Friday's report is the latest in a string of damaging stories about Broidy, who has faced reports alleging he peddled influence with President Donald Trump and top administration officials to win lucrative contracts in countries including Angola, Romania, and the United Arab Emirates, for his defense firm, Circinus.

Keith Davidson, the former attorney for Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal, represented the woman, making it the second known "hush money" deal Davidson brokered with Cohen.

A person familiar with the agreement between Broidy and the woman, who was not identified, said Cohen used the same pseudonyms he made for Trump and Daniels.

'It is unfortunate that this personal matter between two consenting adults is the subject of national discussion just because of Michael Cohen's involvement, ' Broidy complained in his statement to the paper.

Trump has denied the women's allegations.

Broidy said Cohen contacted him after being contacted by the woman's attorney, Keith Davidson.Broidy said he retained Cohen because Cohen had a prior relationship with Davidson. Cohen didn't respond to requests for comment from the outlet.

Sources familiar with the situation said RNC Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel had accepted Broidy's resignation from the finance committee.

The FBI raided Cohen's office, hotel room and home earlier this week.

In a statement to the Wall Street Journal, Broidy confirmed the affair and the monetary payments.

They both now serve as deputy national finance chairmen for the Republican National Committee.

Broidy, a Los Angeles-based venture capitalist, has acknowledged the relationship, which he characterizes as "consensual".

Broidy, meanwhile, has been embroiled in controversy stemming from his work with George Nader, a Lebanese-American businessman who was confronted by agents working for Mueller in January and has since been cooperating with the Russian Federation probe. Daniels, whose legal name is Stephanie Clifford, is now suing Trump and Cohen to have the agreement tossed out.

McDougal, who says she had a 10-month affair with Trump in 2006 and 2007, sold the rights to her story to the parent company of the National Enquirer for $150,000 in August 2016. AMI has asked the judge to dismiss the case, arguing that the deal is protected under the First Amendment.
