Launches April 12: Here's what you get

ESPN says the company will launch its new ESPN+ streaming video service on April 12 as part of the company's belated effort to get ahead of the cord cutting phenomenon.

ESPN+ will feature live sporting events, original programming, and an on-demand library.

The ESPN+ service will also carry more than 250 MLS soccer games and a wide range of college sports including football, basketball baseball and others such as track & field, gymnastics, swimming and lacrosse and more. This new sports streaming app would be dubbed ESPN Plus and would provide a slew of streaming options for sports fans.

"With ESPN+, fans have access to thousands more live games, world class original programs and on-demand sports content, all at a great price", ESPN president Jimmy Pitaro said in a statement.

ESPN+ is Disney's first direct-to-customer service, which could mean that company wants to see how this does before rolling out a Disney subscription-based streaming in 2019. LO GRECO BOUT: ESPN+ is a key part of ESPN's multiplatform Top Rank Boxing on ESPN agreement and will feature boxing throughout the year, with a selection of exclusive main-event fights beginning with the April 21 Amir Khan vs. Phil Lo Greco bout in Liverpool, UK. More games are expected to be added as the service matures, though streaming rights are more hotly contested than ever, as the NFL's recent experiences have shown.

Mega Millions numbers: Friday's $521M winning lottery ticket sold in NJ
The drawing follows a March 27 Mega Millions drawing that was the twenty-third in a row without a jackpot-winning ticket. Riverdale, which is home to the station where the winning ticket was bought, is located in Morris County.

The new services is separate from ESPN's current cable TV channel and programming, which will continue to be available via cable, satellite and telco distributors and through TV Everywhere apps. An NHL all-inclusive package will be offered as well.

Outside of the subscription offers, the new ESPN app will include sports news, highlights and scores, the aforementioned linear ESPN TV networks to authenticated subscribers, and ESPN Audio. In theory, the ESPN app then becomes one-stop shopping for your sports streaming. When the 2018-19 hockey season begins next fall, you'll also be able to tack on NHL.TV for an extra fee. Not only did Minneapolis host Super Bowl 52, the Final Four, and the X Games, but our own, often beleaguered sports teams have been fighting there way to respectability as well.

- PGA: 100 days of coverage (mostly Thursday and Fridays) from 31 PGA Tour Events including The Players Championship, AT&T Byron Nelson, AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Arnold Palmer Invitational and more. Finally, there'll be global rugby and cricket.
