Toyota RAV4: looking more SUV than crossover

Toyota RAV4: looking more SUV than crossover

Almost a quarter of a decade later, at the 2018 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) taking place this week, the Japanese will be introducing the fifth generation of the model. 2019 RAV4 SUV gets a new design which looks fresh and updated. Toyota hasn't detailed trim levels for the RAV4, but the automaker confirmed that it will offer five grades for the standard model and four versions of the RAV4 Hybrid. The hood is more muscular, the front grille larger, the headlights more imposing.

This new model is based on Toyota's New Global Architecture platform and launches with one petrol and one hybrid powertrain option. Unlike with the Auris that was revealed at the Geneva motor show, we've also had a look at the interior of the new auto, which shows off an angular theme to the dashboard that was introduced with the smaller C-HR SUV.

Toyota Canada spokeswoman Melanie Testani said the automaker has not yet been confirmed which Ontario plant will eventually build the hybrid RAV4. It can send up to 50 percent of the available torque to the rear axle and even distribute it to the left and right rear wheel to improve handling. The standard fare will be just the normal gas engine, while Toyota will also offer the same engine mated to its hybrid system. The RAV4 also comes with three AWD systems with a more traditional arrangement and Toyota's AWD-i hybrid setup that now creates 30 percent more torque for the electrically driven rear wheels.

"The combination of Toyota's latest hybrid system and a new Dynamic Force petrol engine will deliver impressive power output and exceptional energy efficiency", Mr Hanley said.

Six suspicious packages sent to military, intelligence sites, officials say
Few details were released on the package found at Fort Belvoir, but a base spokesman said that it had been rendered safe. According to WRC-TV in DC, a third package is under investigation at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling.

The Toyota RAV4 is the brand's best-selling model in the USA these days, meaning the importance of this fourth-generation version can not be overstated. The new hybrid features a sport-tuned suspension along with improved shock absorbers and springs.

The 2.0-litre D-4D on the current RAV4 engine line-up will not be carried over or replaced, in line with Toyota's announcement at the Geneva Motor Show that it will have no diesel passenger cars on sale in Europe by the end of this year. For SE, standard Entune 3.0 Audio includes 8-in. touchscreen; six speakers; Apple CarPlay; Amazon Alexa integration; Entune 3.0 App Suite Connect; Safety Connect; Wi-Fi Connect; Scout GPS Link Compatible; Siri Eyes Free; Auxiliary audio jack and USB 2.0 port with iPod connectivity and control; AM/FM; MP3/WMA playback capability; Voice Recognition training and tutorials; Hands-free phone capability; voice recognition and music streaming via Bluetooth; Customizable Home Screen; and Weather/Traffic info via Entune 3.0 App Suite.

On the safety front, the Toyota RAV4 comes with Toyota's Safety Sense, which includes features like forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and emergency braking, dynamic cruise control, lane departure warning with steering assist, and auto high beams.
