(Box Office Mojo, however, hasn't updated its rankings yet.) The Avengers grossed $623.4 million back in 2012, and Black Panther should rake in $630 million by the end of this weekend.

DJ Khaled's "All I Do Is Win" might as well be the theme music for Black Panther's box office journey. And now, after spending five weekends in the top spot on the domestic charts, fending off all sorts of major new releases, Black Panther just crossed yet another major milestone. But there's little chance of the current estimate falling by the $7 million it would take to leave Marvel's latest in second place for one more day. That will leave it in third place behind The Avengers' $1.5 billion and Avengers: Age of Ultron's $1.4 billion, but it could certainly still catch them.

In the weeks since its February 16 premiere, Black Panther has become a almost unstoppable pop culture juggernaut, even beyond the box office. While Titanic's total includes re-releases, it's worth noting that all the aforementioned totals are unadjusted for ticket price inflation, as is standard procedure for calculating box office records.

The big question now is: How long will this record hold?

Slain French officer Col Arnaud Beltrame's mother not surprised by his courage
One person, who is thought to be Lakdim's partner, has been arrested and the family's apartment in Carcassone has been raided. President Emmanuel Macron had said of Mr Beltrame's actions: "He saved lives and honoured his colleagues and his country".

He will also feature in next month's crossover release Avengers: Infinity War, as well as its now untitled sequel, which will be out next year.

We've written about this before in regards to Black Panther, but it bears repeating: the old Hollywood lie that "black movies don't travel" should be well and truly dead after this box office record-breaker.

It's also a major ensemble piece, drawing in heroes (and villains!) from virtually every other MCU movie to date.

Black Panther is now playing. That wave alone should carry Infinity War to a massive box office.
