Ousted Trump aide McEntee is under investigation for 'serious financial crimes'

In yet another shocking development in the White House, Donald Trump's personal assistant was sacked. McEntee was one of Trump's longest serving aides who has been serving with Trump since the early days of the campaign.

The campaign's decision underscores Trump's tolerance for - and often encouragement of - duelling centres of power around him. A star high school quarterback, he worked at Fox News as part of their social media team before quitting to volunteer with the Trump campaign.

It wasn't clear why McEntee, a well-liked figure in the White House, had been dismissed, and campaign aides weren't given a reason.

The Wall Street Journal first reported Mr McEntee's sacking, citing a security issue.

Theni forest fire: Nine people charred to death and several others critical
The Theni Collector has informed me that ambulances with doctors are positioned downhill to render all medical aid for the girls. The Collector added that the rescue of others struck in the area has become very hard due lack of adequate lighting facilities.

Axios's Jonathan Swan touched on how devastating this will be for morale inside the White House.

The announcement came on the same day Mr Trump fired his secretary of state. According to CNN, McEntee is now under investigation by the Department of Homeland Security for financial crimes, which are reportedly unrelated to Trump.

At the very least, it appears Mr McEntee did not have a permanent security clearance and, with the ongoing criminal investigation, was unlikely to every be granted one. A White House spokesman declined to comment on McEntee's firing. The alleged crimes are said to not be related to Trump. McEntee's role was described as "body man", always staying by Trump's side. White House Communications Director Hope Hicks resigned last month. McEntee was subsequently hired as a senior advisor on Trump's reelection campaign.
