Free agent WR Sammy Watkins to sign for Kansas City Chiefs

Free agent WR Sammy Watkins to sign for Kansas City Chiefs

The former first-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft will join a talented group of playmakers in Kansas City under head coach Andy Reid.

Both franchises are looking to upgrade their roster in free agency, and they're competing head-to-head for arguably the two top receivers on the open market.

The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to deals with wide receiver Sammy Watkins and middle linebacker Anthony Hitchens, filling two of their most glaring needs on the eve of free agency.

The wide receiver reeled in just 39 catches for 593 yards a year ago in Los Angeles, but still managed to be a threat in the red zone with eight touchdowns.

It would help matters if he stayed healthy.

Chelsea v Crystal Palace: Unconvincing champions not easy to trust
They have fantastic players, are a brilliantly run and powerful club, and have a very good manager and coaching staff. Chelsea FC have won the Premier League title in two of the past three seasons under Jose Mourinho and then Conte.

Very early on Tuesday morning, there was the report from numerous outlets that wide receiver Allen Robinson will be leaving the Jacksonville Jaguars for the Chicago Bears. He was traded to the Rams in August after playing 37 games for the Bills.

Final terms of the #Chiefs expected deal for WR Sammy Watkins: 3 years, $48M with $30M fully guaranteed at signing, sources say.

Watkins provides another option for new quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who will succeed Alex Smith, once Smith's trade to Washington becomes official Wednesday.

"He is going to have several interested teams".
