Huskers to take on Mississippi State in NIT

Huskers to take on Mississippi State in NIT

All four teams had been hopeful of receiving at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament.

Cornhuskers fans responded online in a not-so-friendly way.

The Huskers are a No. 5 seed in the Baylor bracket and will travel to Mississippi State on Wednesday for their first round matchup.

The Cornhuskers are now 22-10 overall and went 13-5 in Big Ten play during the regular season.

It's the ninth time for MSU to play in the NIT and its first since dropping a 101-96 double-overtime decision in the opening round against UMass in 2012. "They just didn't win those games".

Giants To Release Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported Saturday night that the Giants asked Rodgers-Cromartie to take a pay cut . They apparently were far enough apart that the Giants chose to release the 10-year veteran.

A'Shanti Coleman's buzzer-beating putback against Nevada on Friday gave the Broncos a 62-60 victory in the Mountain West Tournament championship game, pushing their win streak to 10 games.

Miles let the team go home after it had gathered the NCAA selection show at Hendricks, and watched the NIT show in his office.

What words did Miles say when he learned of the No. 5 seed?

Despite the bitter disappointment, the Huskers will have to find a way to get up to game form. The only two that didn't were Washington and OR in the Pac-12 in 2011-12. Other teams in the NIT field that were overlooked by the bigger tournament include Louisville, Oklahoma State, Middle Tennessee and Oregon. "This will be our third game in 21-22 days". This season marks the first time since 2008 the conference has gotten fewer than five teams into the NCAA Tournament. "I don't have anything really good to say to you guys today".
