Irrepressible Ronaldo strikes twice as Real beat Eibar

Ronaldo scored a brace for Real Madrid vs Eibar on Saturday, extending a superb run in the last two months as Los Blancos earned a 2-1 victory.

The deadlock was broken on 34 minutes as Luka Modric played a sublime long pass to Ronaldo, who fired home at the near post from 12-yards out.

Eibar defender Ivan Ramis had seemingly done enough to secure a point for the home side that would have left their visitors trailing second-placed Atletico Madrid by six points, but Ronaldo struck in the 84th minute to rescue the win and ensure Valencia can not leap above them later on Saturday.

Cristiano Ronaldo's opener was cancelled out by Ivan Ramis's header, but the Portuguese star netted six minutes from time to seal all three points for Zinedine Zidane's men.

Azulgranas continued to open up Real as Jordan nodded Leon's free kick wide of the post on the half-hour mark, but there were signs from the visitors as Gareth Bale was denied by goalkeeper Dmitrovic after being played through by Marcelo.

"We were struggling with our game but we all know what Cristiano can give us, with just a few chances he can score a lot of goals".

India elect to field against Bangladesh in T20 tri-series
Bangladesh skipper Mahmadullah said:It's obvious that we didn't bat well. "If we can play good cricket, we will do well". We have played against Sri Lanka recently, so we know what challenges to expect from them.

Real still have a mountain to climb if they are to topple LaLiga leaders Barcelona, but that has not stopped the Frenchman from believing his side can retain their title. He is a different player, a special player.

In the 2016-17 season, of Ronaldo's 42 goals for Real Madrid, 26 (62 percent) came in the second half of the season, including 16 after March.

Real move four points behind second-placed Atletico Madrid, who will restore that gap to seven with a win over Celta Vigo on Sunday.

Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane sent on Karim Benzema and Lucas Vazquez to look for the victor.

Real Madrid overcame a shaky performance to maintain their fine recent form to defeat Eibar 2-1 at the Estadio Municipal de Ipurua.
