The Samsung Galaxy S9 And S9 Plus Preorders Are Disappointing

The Samsung Galaxy S9 And S9 Plus Preorders Are Disappointing

Well that's because Samsung is facing some "technological difficulties" in putting a fingerprint scanner below the display. One of the few sources which came to light for this, was KGI's Ming-Chi Kuo.

Based on the statement made by the analyst, it looks Samsung is going to play it really safe this time just like the Galaxy S9.

Samsung has copied numerous iPhone features over the years but the new Galaxy S9 does not feature a notched display, unlike new smartphones from other Android manufacturers. They use 2D technology which can easily be hacked with a photograph and some even managed to hack into the Apple Phone.

According to Samsung's "Are we up to date" website in Turkey, the Galaxy Note 8 will be the first of the handsets which will get the Android 8.0 Oreo. According to the image and information released on the site, the phone will be powered by the same processor as the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9 Plus.

In any case, as AppleInsider reports, despite Samsung's failure to implement in-display fingerprint scanning, Kuo believes the technology is important in enabling full-size displays for mobile devices, a trend that is unlikely to diminish any time soon; and he expects mass market adoption of the technology, though not until 2019.

Samsung doesn't seem to be in a rush this time to implement something totally new. The site gives details about the upcoming firmware updates for Samsung smartphones.

Several industry experts say that in-screen fingerprint sensors have poor accuracy and durability compared to the traditional ones.

What if Samsung had copied Apple's notch? If true, then expect this one critical upgrade to shift next year - when Apple is rumored to launch the feature on its iPhones.

"According to our understanding of the technologies, under-display fingerprint solutions may now have many technical issues (e.g. screen protectors and different environments affecting recognition rates and power-consumption)", report quotes Kuo from one of the notes to investors.
