Texas A&M Basketball: 3 takeaways from loss to Alabama in SEC Tournament

On Friday, Alabama has a chance to pick up another huge scalp when it faces off with blood rival Auburn, the SEC's top seed and a projected three seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Alabama, which had lost five straight games coming into the tournament, led by as many as 12 in the second half, but 17 turnovers kept the Tide from pulling away. The Tide were able to advance in the SEC Tournament after an awesome finish that included a buzzer beater by freshman star Collin Sexton. The Aggies tied the game with a three with 1:14 remaining and what ensued next was instant classic material. Williams finished the game with six points, 10 rebounds, and seven blocks. After a layup to push Alabama up two, and then another jumper to retake that lead, Sexton and Alabama were down one with 4.4 seconds left following a three from Texas A&M's T.J. Starks.

However, Starks would answer Sexton yet again.

Which explains why Prince Mohammed is going out of his way to stress the importance of the UK-Saudi relationship during this week's visit to Britain.

"Coach told me to race up the floor and get to the basket", Sexton said. Davis picked up his fourth foul with 12:31 to go in the game, and was subbed out with 12:31 remaining in the game. Hall leads in rebounds with 6.9 while Sexton tops in assists with 3.6 per game. Alabama ranks 210th in rebounds allowed per game (36.2). ESPN's Joe Lunardi had the Tide as one of his first four out going into Thursday, meaning they're going to need multiple wins in the SEC Tournament to even have a prayer of reaching the Big Dance.

At minimum, Alabama is still alive, and the Tide has Sexton to thank for that. Defensively, Alabama basketball yields 69.7 points per game against the opposing teams.

With today's win, Alabama moves on to the quarterfinals tomorrow.
