Google to sell Zagat to The Infatuation, a startup review site

At the time, the details were light and it wasn't known which company Google was speaking with, though the initial report said that several entities were interested in the longstanding service.

Though there are tons of restaurant reviewing sites like Zagat in the present scenario Infatuation officials are really hopeful about the outcome of the deal.

Alphabet Inc.'s Google (GOOGL) will reportedly sell review platform Zagat to online startup Infatuation. Google meant to use Zagat's brand name recognition as well as its history of reviews to bolster its own reviews embedded in the Google Maps app.

Google is selling Zagat to The Infatuation. Zagat will continue to be relevant to people using Google to search for restaurant reviews, and Zagat will grow in other ways with The Infatuation.

Red Cross Says Violence Halts Aid Delivery To Syria's Ghouta
The Syrian government, through the SANA state news agency, denied using chemical weapons in its eastern Ghouta offensive. In remarks broadcast on state television on Sunday, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said his forces would push on.

"Iconic brands don't become available very often, and Zagat is about as iconic as it gets", Infatuation co-founder and chief executive Chris Stang said.

In 2016 Google unveiled a new look for Zagat's website and an app that provided suggestions based on users' locations and the time of day. The Infatuation claims to reach some 3 million users each month and boasts a presence in cities including Austin, Chicago, Denver, London, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco among others.

The Infatuation, which plans to keep Zagat as a separate brand that features user-generated reviews, has an opportunity to raise its profile with the long-established restaurant review platform. "Their innovative approach, and their passion for helping people discover great restaurants and for building community lines up exactly with what we built with Zagat from the very beginning".

Zagat was the brainchild of Tim and Nina Zagat where they used to conduct surveys on their friends' opinions on various eateries of New York City. "It is the ideal complement to what we have been building at The Infatuation".
