Asus Zenfone 5Z and Zenfone 5 announced with iPhone X-Like notch

Asus Zenfone 5Z and Zenfone 5 announced with iPhone X-Like notch

The Asus Zenfone 5z is indeed an excellent addition to this year's MWC lineup, a phone that will cost just €479 in Europe, a lot less than we'd have expected from a phone that shares most of its specs with the Galaxy S9 and Xperia XZ. In appearance, the two resemble the iPhone X, with a notch dipping into the screen at the top to hold the speaker, front camera and sensors.

When the Apple iPhone X came out a year ago, we expected flagship smartphones from its rivals borrowing its design and offering it at affordable rates.

For the photography department, there's a 12MP dual rear camera setup, with the main sensor having an aperture of f/1.8 and the wide-angle sensor having an aperture of f/2.2 - there's OIS available for stable video shots. Similar to the ZenFone 5 Lite, there is no mention of the starting price as well. Asus will release the Zenfone 5 Lite in March, followed by the Zenfone 5 in April and then the Zenfone 5Z in June.

The Zenfone 5 is meant to be the phone that will bring back Asus its lost glory in the smartphone market.

The phone has a 6-inch 2,160x1,080 display, and an 80.3% screen-to-body ratio, which is commendable for a "lite" version.

Asus delivers the two ZenFones with Android 8 Oreo and its own Zen UI.

Asus yesterday night announced the launch of its new Zenfone 5 series. This new smartphone got iPhone X style top notch and high-end specifications.

Billionaire investor Warren Buffett to retire from Kraft Heinz board
In the departure from past years, Buffett refrained from talking about the direction of the country or economy. "A large portion of our gain did not come from anything we accomplished at Berkshire", Buffett said.

I'm pleased to see that Asus has made some minor improvements to the ZenFone 5's camera specs.

The phone is powered by Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Soc with Adreno 630 GPU. Asus only announced price for the 5Z, but said that the Snapdragon 845-endowed phone with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage will start at a pretty-affordable €479, or around $488 without Value-Added Tax. The smartphone will be available in Midnight Blue and Meteor Silver color variants.

LG's V30S ThinQSouth Korea's LG eschewed the notch for the all-screen model it introduced at MWC, the V30S ThinQ, where it also discussed a new smartphone strategy focusing on device audio, battery, camera and display.

Both phones also have the same cameras. The phone uses the power of AI to enhance the experience of using the phone and Asus has included some rather interesting features. Jargon aside, it essentially ensures the battery doesn't overcharge and based on your sleeping schedule, tops it up in sessions. Other rumored features include Android 8.0 Oreo running out-of-the-box and dual-SIM support. There's also a fingerprint sensor placed on the rear panel of the phone which enables the user to unlock the device is just 0.3 seconds, claims the company. The secondary camera is of 8-megapixel with 120-degree wide angle lens for wider selfies.

Other than these, details are scarce about the other variants of the Zenfone 5 series. The body of the Zenfone 5 Lite is built of aluminium which makes it both light as well as durable. The ZenFone 4 had a 16:9 5.5-inch display.

Asus ZenFone 5Z is powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 845 processor, while ZenFone 5 runs Snapdragon 636 chipset under its hood. As of yet there is no clear information on which model will hit the Indian shores. For its rear main camera, ASUS has chosen the 20MP Sony IMX376 sensor which is paired with f/2.0 lens while the main front camera comes with a 16MP sensor and f/2.2 lens.
