Sony Xperia XZ2 and Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact specs revealed

One by one, the pieces of Sony's mysterious MWC 2018 puzzle seem to be finally falling into place, with the latest rumors suggesting an Xperia XZ2 Compact will actually be joining the "regular" XZ2 in Barcelona on Monday, February 26. Sony certainly has the prowess to offer plenty more with its specialism in camera modules - it already showed off the super slow-motion camera in its Xperia XZ Premium.

We just get a side perspective of the new handset.

This report also reveals pricing details for the two smartphones. This report has now shed some light on both the Sony Xperia XZ2 and the XZ2 Compact. The Xperia blog shows off an image of what's alleged to be a prototype version of the Xperia XZ2 Compact, showing off a curved rear casing.

Apart from the Samsung Galaxy S9, we're curious about the next offering from Sony.

According to the Swedish site via XperiaBlog, the Xperia XZ2 is said to feature a 5.7-inch display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 coating and 18:9 aspect ratio. Some of the other specifications included are 5.7-inch OLED display, 3420mAh battery and IP68 certification. The word on the street is that the Japanese tech giant may launch the Xperia XZ2, successor to the Xperia XZ1. The report states that the phone will have a proprietary music feature that will make use of its vibration engine, details of which are now unclear.

Internally the phone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of on-board storage (no mention of microSD Card).

Both the Sony Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact smartphones will lack 3.5mm headphone jack and will run on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system. It may debut with a price tag of 599 euros (~$738).
