Trudeau is on a week-long visit to India.

Experts have been pushing the Liberals to create dedicated paternity leave in the budget and increase the value of benefits paid out for parents who opt for an 18-month parental leave that became available late previous year. "The fact that a junior minister was sent to receive Mr Trudeau and his family is most definitely a snub", columnist and economist Vivek Dehejia told the BBC. "I'm hopeful that this meeting will help strengthen the close Indo-Canadian business ties as well as the deep-rooted people-to-people relations between our two countries", he tweeted. He failed to meet Sajjan when the Canadian minister visited the state a year ago.

Trudeau was accompanied by his wife Shophie and three children Xavier, Hadrien and Ella-Grace Margaret as they paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at the Gandhi Ashram here.

He was again missing however when Trudeau visited Modi's home state of Gujarat on Monday.

"The low-key start to the visit on February 17 also raised eyebrows, with commentators noting that Trudeau was received at the Delhi airport by minister of state Gajendra Shekhawat".

Doug Martin: Released by Tampa Bay
The 5-foot-9 back burst onto the scene as a rookie, running for 1,454 yards on 319 carries with 11 rushing TDs. Late in the 2016 season Martin was suspended four games after testing positive for Adderall and entered rehab.

It appears that Trudeau's handling of the Khalistani issue and concerns in India that his government is soft on pro-Khalistani elements have meant most Indian political leaders have chosen to stay away from meeting the 46-year-old, who became Prime Minister of Canada in 2015. Much has also been made of the lack of a personal welcome and an embrace from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, gestures that have been extended to leaders ranging from US President Barack Obama to the crown prince of Abu Dhabi.

Is Justin Trudeau getting together with Captain Amarinder Singh, or perhaps he isn't?. Trudeau, who arrived in India on Saturday, is on a week-long state visit to the country.

In the video released by news agency "The Canadian Press", Trudeau further says that "we will continue to advocate for one united India and that is something core to what Canada is". In an email response to Hindustan Times, its federal director, Aaron Wudrick, said: "While it is understood that a prime minister will have to travel frequently, the proportion of time being spent actually meeting foreign counterparts on this trip does not suggest a good use of public money".

India accuses Canadian administrations of backing separatist groups although Canada's defence minister Harjit Sajjan, a Sikh, has publicly denied that his community was sympathetic to the Khalistan cause.
