ARSA: Myanmar playing politics with worldwide community regarding Rohingya repatriation

The "Myanmar terrorist government" publishes photos of innocent Rohingya civilians, including the photo of a five-year old child, claiming them to be the members of ARSA with the intention to intimidate those who wish to repatriate, ARSA claimed in its statement which is also available in its Twitter page and other social media. However, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi refused to discuss the issue, saying it was outside the scope of the advisory board's mandate. It is Contempt of Court.

Aaron L. Connelly from the Lowy Institute for International Policy said that the description of the conversation between Mr Richardson and Aung San Suu Kyi should "finally dispel the myth that she privately holds views which she can not express publicly".

Dr. Surakiart, 59, was chosen a year ago by State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi to head a 10-member board that will advise on how to implement the recommendations of an earlier commission headed by former United Nations secretary-general Kofi Annan.

Myanmar's armed forces have been accused by Rohingya witnesses and human rights activists of carrying out killings, rapes and arson in Rakhine in a campaign senior officials in the United Nations and United States have described as ethnic cleansing.

"Nobody should use this case for their personal advantage, such as to seek popularity or publicity", said U Aung Hla Tun, who added that putting pressure on the government in connection with the two detainees could be "counterproductive". "Suu Kyi and her moral leadership could have gone a long way to unpack and unravel that ... instead (she's) actually perpetrated numerous stereotypes and anti-Muslim and anti-Rohingya discrimination".

The intense global criticism of the government's handling of the Rohingya crisis has in turn created something of a siege mentality in Myanmar.

Economic Survey: Tackling child and maternal malnutrition still a massive challenge
He said, the survey as also the President's address, have raised the issue of agriculture, which is the right approach. Also, sharp corrections to elevated stock prices is another risk we should be watchful of".

A State Department spokesman said he could not immediately confirm details of Richardson's s. "(She doesn't) want to hear bad news, and I think that's what's happened to her, to my friend", he said.

"The board feels that constructive and positive work can be done to help bring peace, reconciliation and economic progress for all communities in the Rakhine State", the statement said.

Nor did Richardson feel Surakiart was committed to addressing the root causes of the conflict in Rakhine.

The Advisory Board members visited several camps in Maungdaw and described their establishment as a positive step that would facilitate the refugees' safe return.

Bangladesh government's Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commission said that 688,150 Rohingyas entered the country until January 25 since August 25 past year after being displaced by the oppression of Myanmar Army and their associates.

Meyer said, "It's quite clear that there is an effort being made and hopefully that will encourage people to come back".
