Vince McMahon to launch new football league in 2020

Isn't this ideal? The XFL, which will start in 2020 as announced by WWE CEO Vince McMahon on Thursday, will need recognizable players.

The sexed-up, second-rate football league formed as the early 2000s brainchild of WWE ringleader Vince McMahon is set for a surprising second life in 2020.

As a result, World Wrestling Entertainment's stock price dropped $2.32, or 7.3 percent, to $29.55 after the company disclosed that McMahon sold 3.3 million shares. The league folded in 2001 after losing a purported $70 million. It was not immediately clear if Birmingham would be involved in the new league, as McMahon said decisions on franchise cities are "not close to being made".

McMahon stated that there will be no crossover between WWE and the XFL, and he stressed the point numerous times during the press conference that both will be separate entities.

- He's always wanted to bring the XFL back as football is America's favorite game and there are seven months out of the year without it. The league isn't scheduled to open play until 2020.

Plans for the XFL at launch include eight teams, 40-man active rosters and a 10-week regular-season schedule, with a postseason consisting of two semifinal playoff games and a championship game.

Promising "football reimagined", McMahon announced the new league via an online stream. The original XFL was first announced in February of 2000, and the first game was played exactly one year later.

A Train Has Crashed At Richmond Station
Emergency services have responded to the scene, treating ten people for minor injuries, while two have sustained severe injuries. Television pictures showed the train had run into buffers at the end of the line. "There was a huge amount of dust", he said.

"Forget what we did with the XFL", McMahon said, laughing. During the 2017 season, NBC broadcast a Titans-Steelers game using the SkyCam as it's primary camera.

"We have two years now to really get it right", McMahon said. However, quality play will be needed to maintain interest as the project moves forward. The first thing McMahon said was that the "new" XFL will looks to "give the game of football back to fans".

The XFL was a professional American football league that was created by WWE and NBC.

Though he would not confirm whether or not there would be a specific rule for players to stand during the national anthem, McMahon suggested his league would show nothing but respect for the flag and the country's anthem.

To his credit, some of the things he created for the XFL are still used by the National Football League to this day. "Even if you have a DUI you will not play in the XFL", McMahon said.

McMahon said he'd continue in his current position as chairman and chief executive of the WWE.
