CPI(M) not for tie-up with Congress

CPI(M) not for tie-up with Congress

The final decision will be taken at the Party Congress to be held in Hyderabad in April, and electoral tactics will be decided depending on the "concrete situation" in the States.

Vijayan and Balakrishnan had early this month categorically emphasised that under no circumstances, should the CPI (M) have any sort of adjustments with the Congress, even while declaring the BJP as the main enemy.

Mr Antony said it was evident that the CPM was too eager to bring BJP back to power.

Veteran CPI (M) leader V.S. Achuthanandan today said he is in favour of forming a "broader unity of Left and democratic forces including Congress", while party General Secretary Sitaram Yechury felt that the party needs to take a call on its "political-tactical line" in order to stop the march of the RSS-BJP in the country.

Comparing Sunday's CC decision against having any electoral understanding with the Congress to the 1997 CC decision to deny Jyoti Basu the opportunity to become the Prime Minister, Coorilose wrote: "The decision will be a big relief for communal forces, but, it will disappoint all secular forces".

The powerful Kerala lobby, which also has the largest number of members in the politburo and the central committees, has backed Karat against Yechury's liberal line.

And in September it was revealed that the surrogate is a "married African-American college graduate with two children of her own". Her sisters Kourtney , Khloe and mother Kris were also at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A., where the family's doctor Dr.

However sources speaking to Outlook said that those who supported the Karat line of going it alone pointed out that the Congress and CPI (M) alliance was put to the test in the last Assembly elections of West Bengal in 2016 and failed miserably.

"What is the need for me to continue", he was quoted as saying. To buy peace with the dissenters, he agreed to exclude the ruling class parties from the proposed electoral front, keeping the option of alliance, but still, Karat faction insisted of no truck with Congress policy. The party congress has roughly 600 members.

"As per the adopted draft political resolution, there will be no understanding or electoral alliance with the Congress".

He said the draft resolution was adopted on the basis of a "majority decision".

The discussion made a rift inside the party with two groups led by present party general secretary Sitaram Yechury and former general secretary Prakash Karat.

Reports say the senior leader offered to resign from the party's top post a day before the meeting on Saturday anticipating defeat of his proposal to join hands with the Congress. "We have not taken any decision as yet", Mr Raja said.
